Matarozzi Pelsinger Building

Our headquarters in San Francisco was a perfect opportunity to put our passion for sustainable building to use. An extensive remodel of a bottling facility for the historic Jackson Brewing Company, the project leverages natural ventilation through a perforated zinc facade to keep energy loads low, while sourcing nearly all of its electricity from a 30kW photovoltaic array on the roof.

The resulting building was named one of the Top Ten Green Projects of 2010, and the inaugural winner of the Top Ten Plus Award in 2013 by the American Institute of Architects’ Committee on the Environment. The project was the recipient of the ZeroFootprint Re-Skinning award in 2010, and was presented at the World Urban Forum 5 in Rio de Janeiro as a prototype for the sustainable reuse of urban industrial structures worldwide. The project was awarded LEED-NC Gold certification from the USGBC in 2009.
